China (part 2) Shanghai, The people’s republic
by admin on Nov.18, 2009, under Photos
Finally been able to rummage through photos. This is my second post on Shanghai the first one dealt with the close ups on objects and there will be plenty of those in the future. This second post has to deal with the people in shanghai from the night life, to the stark contrast in poverty and wealth that is quite obvious in the view from my hotel room. This is still in Shanghai I will be posting Nanjin, Shuzhou, and Putuoshan in later parts.
Set to a tidbit of info:
The two Chinese characters in the name “Shanghai”, (上, shàng; and 海, hǎi) literally mean “up, on, or above” and “sea” The earliest occurrence of this name dates from the Song Dynasty (11th century), at which time there was already a river confluence and a town with this name in the area.”

2 trips to chicago now only solidify my love for that city. Here are some photos that I have taken showcasing Chicago. I even included an image of the way they celebrate St. Patrick when the river gets dyed green.
Set to lyrics:
“I met this girl when I was three years old
And what I loved most she had so much soul
She said, excuse me little homie, I know you don’t know me- but,
My name is Windy and, I like to blow trees and,
From that point I never blow her off,”- Kanye West
And what I loved most she had so much soulShe said, excuse me little homie, I know you don’t know me- but,My name is Windy and, I like to blow trees and,From that point I never blow her off

Sketches up to no good: take three

Pencil shaving can be fun too, likely some of my more conceptual work. My take on Pop Art its meant to make something that gets discarded seem interesting.

Sketches up to no good: take one

Here are a few sketches I created while being slightly bored. And in light of matthew good’s upcoming album “Vancouver” I pay homage to the ‘ray gun’ one of my favourite tracks from when he was in a band.
set to music lyrics:
“Shoot me with your ray gun
Full of holes so the day light can get to what’s dark”

King Kone: series 1
by admin on Sep.20, 2009, under design
So upon buying my niece some ice cream I noticed the design on the King Kone truck, and thought about the treats I liked as a kid. I wanted to also create something that looks vintage and fun. At first I thought of making something witty, I think thats why I left the fangs on the bear, but then I just wanted to conjure nostalgic thoughts on these items not to reinvent them but to create them as if I were from that period.
set to a quote:
“You can only be young once but you can always be immature”

China (part 1) Shanghai, up close
by admin on Sep.19, 2009, under Photos
My intro into the photos I took while in the NE coast of china. With a potential trip to Hong Kong looming I feel I should start posting my last trip there. First off is a map of the places I visited. We start with Shanghai and some up close photos of interesting things there. Mind you the mountain photos might not be Shanghai but Fuji mountain in Japan but I feel its fitting seeing as it was on the way to Shanghai…
Set to lyrics:
“Oh, why did I tell you it was bye-bye for Shanghai
I’m even allergic to rice
Why don’t you stop me when I talk about Shanghai
It’s just a lover’s device”- Doris Day

Mac OS X designs
by admin on Sep.13, 2009, under Uncategorized
So over the years I have become a ‘Mac’ head converting people to the Apple philosophy of great intuitive design.
Recently though I have been finding it hard to sell that idea even to myself and its not just Glossy screens, black bezels or missing ports, no, this one is about the packaging of the new OS 10.6…
While previous builds where glossy and metallic with a hint of their main feature, this recent package shows a clip art of an actual snow leopard…LOL (insert sad trumpet here)
here is an image I put together to illustrate my point:
and I thought the jaguar print was bad…
