China (part 2) Shanghai, The people’s republic
Finally been able to rummage through photos. This is my second post on Shanghai the first one dealt with the close ups on objects and there will be plenty of those in the future. This second post has to deal with the people in shanghai from the night life, to the stark contrast in poverty and wealth that is quite obvious in the view from my hotel room. This is still in Shanghai I will be posting Nanjin, Shuzhou, and Putuoshan in later parts.
Set to a tidbit of info:
The two Chinese characters in the name “Shanghai”, (上, shàng; and 海, hǎi) literally mean “up, on, or above” and “sea” The earliest occurrence of this name dates from the Song Dynasty (11th century), at which time there was already a river confluence and a town with this name in the area.”
